Here in the states it’s called a DRE (digital rectal exam). I was diagnosed at the end of 2001 when I was 44. I too have four children and live a life quite like yours. It wasn’t as much of a wake up call for me as it was for you. Mine was aggressive but still contained, none in the margins as they say. I was very fortunate that my doctor started screening while in my early forties. I asked him why. He told me he had lost too many patients to it early. Fifty was the recommended start for screening at the time. I wouldn’t have made it to fifty. I appreciate what you are doing here.

DRE sounds far more professional! Will go for that in the future 😉. 44, wow that is a tender age! In hope that all well now?

Well I am about to turn 68 and am still cancer-free so it went well. I had an excellent surgeon do my prostatectomy so I had no serious side effects. I was very fortunate to have him for the procedure. My doctor referred him. When I asked if he was any good he told me he sent his father to him as did his partner.

The irony of discovering that I too had prostate C was that I was the one telling everyone not to get the state injectable.

I suspect poor Eddie Jordan was a victim given the description of his prostate C as ‘aggressive’.

Turbo C, anyone??

As a non-jibbed friend said to me this week,”… it’s a good job you didn’t get it given your diagnosis.”

I’m inclined to agree.

Isn't it just...I really do consider myself in a privileged position (however, weird that may sound). Thank you Kristina, it was great chatting to you...hope all well?
